Happiness & Clapping

I have a feeling they're related.

Why else would we clap when we applaud?

Why else would we clap when we sing happy birthday?

Why else would we clap when we sing bhajans or do garba?

Why else would we clap when we encourage someone to do good/better?

Question is: does clapping make us happy or we clap because we are happy? Is that like chicken and egg?

They say our fingers have nerve endings which connect directly to the happiness area of our brain. Ever noticed children learn to clap even when they are not taught to, and it gives them lots of joy? I guess as we grow older, we tend to forget how happy we can get by just clapping. Try it! :)

Chinmai, oh that's nice to know. I have to go check that post. I've forgotten it of sorts. It's amazing to note these behaviors depending upon how we are feeling.

Stupidosaur, congrats to your camera for the new blog. I better stop by there.
Btw, I had the same song in KG but we sang it much slower than in this video. I love that song. :)

Arshad, thanks for reminding about the children part. I didn't really think it like so until you mentioned it. And now that you did, it completely makes sense. All we need is an excuse to clap and we'd be on our way to be happy. :) Thanks & welcome.
