Quotes from the Mirror of Erised, HP

"The happiest man on earth would be able to use the Mirror of Erised like a normal mirror, that is, he would look into it and see himself exactly as he is." - Albus Dumbledore

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that." - Albus Dumbledore

Why Dumbledore wants thick, woolen socks?

Book # 1

This is after Harry has seen the Mirror of Erised for the third time, and he finds Professor Dumbledore sitting in the same room.

My comment --> []

Harry stood up.

"Sir -- Professor Dumbledore? Can I ask you something?" [Hahahaha! I love it when someone asks this question. ;)]

"Obviously, you've just done so," Dumbledore smiled. "You may ask me one more thing, however."

"What do you see when you look in the mirror?"

"I? I see myself holding a pair of thick, woolen socks."

Harry stared.

"One can never have enough socks, " said Dumbledore. "Another Christmas has come and gone and I didn't get a single pair. People will insist on giving me books."

So Dumbledore desperately desires thick, woolen socks.

My question is: Was Dumbledore not truthful when he answered this question like Harry thought or this clue has been answered in the later books? I couldn't put together the pieces of this puzzle.

Warner Bros sue 'Hari Puttar' makers

What the heck!

That was my first reaction to this, then I just laughed at Warners. How can Hari Puttar even come close to Harry Potter? I don't see anyone wearing round glasses, has lightening bolt shaped scars or flying cars. I feel bad for the Bollywood guys. Let's wait and watch what happens today...

Do you think Hari Puttar will win this battle against Lord Warner? :P

Here's the article:

Warners suit takes issue with Indian film's title

By Nyay BhushanSun Aug 24, 9:36 PM ET

Warner Bros. has filed a lawsuit against Mumbai-based producer/distributor Mirchi Movies related to the title of its upcoming film "Hari Puttar -- A Comedy of Terrors," which Warners feels is a tad too similar to its franchise about a certain young wizard.

The case is being heard in the Bombay High Court and comes up for hearing Monday (August 25). "Hari Puttar," a comedy that centers on a 10-year-old Indian boy whose family moves to England, is slated for a September 12 release.

"We have recently commenced proceedings against parties involved in the production and distribution of a movie entitled 'Hari Puttar,"' London-based Warners spokeswoman Deborah Lincoln said. "Warner Bros. values and protects intellectual property rights. However, it is our policy not to discuss publicly the details of any ongoing litigation."

The Hari Puttar name began making the rounds here as a comic gag when the first "Harry Potter" film was released. Hari is a popular Indian name, and "puttar" means "son" in the Punjabi language.

"Since the case is sub-judice, we can't comment as of now," Mirchi Movies CEO Munish Purii said. "However, we registered the 'Hari Puttar' title in 2005, and it's unfortunate that Warner has chosen to file a case so close to our film's release. In my opinion, I don't think our title has any similarity or links with 'Harry Potter."'

"Hari Puttar" is directed by Rajesh Bajaj and Lucky Kohli and stars Jackie Shroff, Saurabh Shukla and Sarika.

Warners' next "Harry Potter" installment, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," is slated for release worldwide in July.

Next Harry Potter film - 8 months delayed!!!

The film release date is being changed from "its planned Nov. 21 release to July 17, 2009". It sounds fishy to me, but they say otherwise.

Why would they want to delay it by such a long time when the film's going to be ready and sitting around waiting to be watched?

GRRRRR!
The move was made to take advantage of an open weekend in Hollywood's busy summer season, said Alan Horn, Warner Bros. president and chief operating officer. The film had been on schedule, and the change was not due to any production snags, he said.

"The picture is completely, absolutely, 100 percent on schedule, on time. There were no delays," Horn told The Associated Press. "I've seen the movie. It is fabulous. We would have been perfectly able to have it out in November."

Dumbledore is Gay

Okay so Albus Dumbledore is a gay.

Big deal!

My question is: would any one have a problem with it? Not really... or at least I can say that for myself. Of course, I am going to reread the whole series now since I got this bit of information but that's merely out of curiosity than anything else. I'd have a totally different perspective of him now that I know a little more about him. In my opinion, he has been a very mysterious character from the beginning and this will help resolve a lot of questions about why things happened the way they did, or the way he wanted or didn't want.

And if you're wondering who's the lucky man, it's none other than Gellert Grindelwald!

The Cover of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Yippieee! The book cover is out! And I can tell that Harry Potter is not going to die in this last book. As you can see on the cover, he is trying to reach for something towards the sky, and Voldemort is trying to stop him from doing that. His eyes still so much snake-like, appearing as red slits. Harry's palm/hand is shown quite bigger relatively to his body, I think that means more powerful than before and thus the end of the dark lord! woohoo!

Love the picture of Slytherin's locket. Wonder what the Hufflepuff's cup would look like. We've already seen Gryffindor's sword but what about an item of Ravenclaw's? I wonder what it will be!!

Under his spell - Severus Snape

Five reasons to believe Snape is good (if not nice)

1. Headmaster Dumbledore's death isn't all it seems to be. After he pleads, "Severus ... ," there is a moment of silence, an opportunity for the two -- both skilled in the Potter books' version of mind-reading -- to have a private chat. Snape fans think Dumbledore orders him to go through with it. At this point, the headmaster is already in dire straits, poisoned by a potion of Voldemort's that -- in what seems like a deliberate parallel -- Dumbledore made Harry force-feed him.

2. We still don't have reliable information about why Snape offered to spy on Voldemort, "at great personal risk," in Dumbledore's words. In the Potter books, what you don't know is significant.

3. As he fled Hogwarts, Snape could have killed or kidnapped Harry. Instead, he stopped a Death Eater from torturing the teen.

4. The summer before these traumatic events, Snape saves Dumbledore from a potentially life-threatening injury. Why bother if he wanted the headmaster dead?

5. What's the more interesting plot for the final Harry Potter book: Yeah, Snape is still bad? Or -- surprise, Harry, the man you want to kill is on your side?

Timbre "Harry Potter" - Fête du Timbre 2007

"Celebration of the Stamp" that's what it means in French. It indeed is time for celebration for the Harry Potter fans! The Potter mania reaches yet another level and now we have stamps with Harry Potter and Friends on there. The stamps came out March 12, 2007. I'm waiting for England and US to come up with their versions of HP stamps. Can't wait to order my set of these French stamps!

Next thing we will see, there is Thestrals Taxi Service, Harry Potter airlines, ooh imagine... Firebolt Airways! ;-) or may be they already exist somewhere...

Is Snape really Harry's wellwisher?

So after reading an article online, I've really started to pay attention on how Snape has been treating Harry. It makes me wonder whether Snape really hates Harry as much as Harry hates him? Or may be he likes him? Did Snape have a soft corner for Lily Evans? Do Harry's eyes remind him of her? What is the reason this half-blood prince behaves the way he does with Harry - neither of a friend nor a foe? How did Harry actually get hold of the Potions book that belonged to Half-blood prince? I guess the answers will have to wait until July 21, 2007!
