A Tag Full of Quotes

Took up this tag from Sandeep's.

Some of my favorite quotes are:

"It is our choices, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." -Albus Dumbledore

"You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him." -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"That best portion of a good man's life, - his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love." -William Wordsworth

"Every minute of every day is an opportunity to learn something new. Sharing what we learn with people around us is one of the best ways I know to give thanks for our ability to be educated. Books are great for sharing all kinds of experiences." -Ananda Lewis, RIF spokesperson and MTV VJ

"Be kind. Remember everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." -John Watson

So what are your favorite quotes?

Disaster's in the air

Nope, I didn't say that. Timon did. :P

I was just humming that Can You Feel the Love Tonight song. Have you heard it?

Timon: I can see what's happening

Pumba: What?

Timon: And they don't have a clue!

Pumba: Who?

Timon: They'll fall in love and here's the bottom line
Our trio's down to two

Pumba: Oh

Timon: The sweet caress of twilight
There's magic everywhere
And with all this romantic atmosphere
Disaster's in the air

Chorus: Can you feel the love tonight?
The peace the evening brings
The world, for once, in perfect harmony
With all its living things

Simba: So many things to tell her
But how to make her see
The truth about my past? Impossible!
She'd turn away from me

Nala: He's holding back, he's hiding
But what, I can't decide
Why won't he be the king I know he is
The king I see inside?

Chorus: Can you feel the love tonight?
The peace the evening brings
The world, for once, in perfect harmony
With all its living things

Can you feel the love tonight?
You needn't look too far
Stealing through the night's uncertainties
Love is where they are

Timon: And if he falls in love tonight
It can be assumed

Pumba: His carefree days with us are history

Both: In short, our pal is doomed! (cry)

Romance in the air at Sakhi’s and as she turned the fan on, I too felt the fresh breeze of that air.

Disclaimer: I am not sure what kind of love we're talking about here and also, I don't know the actual definition of love so please note that while you read the answers.

Here I go:

  1. If your lover betrayed you, what will your reaction be?
  2. Then it was never meant to be; and if that was the case, better now than later.

  3. If you can have a dream to come true, what would it be?
  4. Detachment from life at all times. Hmm.. now there' something to dream about.

  5. What do you love the most in your lover?
  6. Kindness

  7. What would you do with a billion dollars?
  8. Can't tell right now but would rather share it with others than just spend it all myself. :D

  9. Will you fall in love with your best friend?
  10. Ummm.. it's difficult to gamble so much.

  11. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone?
  12. How about both? If I had to pick one I'd pick the first one. It is an emotion to be experienced at least once in a lifetime.

  13. How long do you intend to wait for someone you really love?
  14. So long the patience doesn't run out. :)

  15. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
  16. Pray to God for good and better things in their life.

  17. If you like to act with someone, who will it be? Your gf/bf or an actress/actor?
  18. Acting? Are you kidding me? But if I were forced to, I'd rather pick an actor/actress.

  19. What takes you down the fastest?
  20. Nosy people who ask personal questions. Just one will do, but it better not be you! ;)

  21. How would you see yourself in ten years’ time?
  22. No idea. Hopefully closer to achieving that dream I talked about above.

  23. What’s your fear?
  24. To not being able to let go.

  25. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
  26. A mysterious gal who is a fabulous writer. :)

  27. Would you rather be single and rich or married but poor?
  28. How about happily married but poor? :P

  29. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
  30. Open the window blinds to let the daylight come in.

  31. Would you give all in a relationship?
  32. Meaning? If it means give it my best, then yes I would. :)

  33. If you fall in love with two people simultaneously, who would you pick?
  34. Pick for what? I already love more than two people right now. LOL!

  35. Would you forgive and forget, no matter how horrible a thing that special someone has done?
  36. Forgive? Yes. Forget? I don't know. I could become indifferent towards them.

  37. If you get to go back in time and fall in love all over again, would it still be with the same person?
  38. This question makes me feel like Basanti.

Haan to kahan thi main? Haan... Ramgadh ka ek rupaiya aur Belapur ka dedh...

Phir maine socha, chalo back in time jaana hi hai to hum chale jaate hai lekin agar love all over again karna pade to hum kar bhi sakte hai aur nahin bhi. Aur agar kar liya to phir to wohi baat ho gayi jo pehle thi aur agar nahin kiya to kisi aur se kar lete hai. Lekin us ke liye mujhe Shiv mandir mein jaa kar thode aur somvaar ke vrat karne padenge. :P

  39. List 6 people to tag:

  40. Kashmira
    Pitu
    Sayesha
    Soham
    Solitaire
    Stupidosaur

Now here are the rules:

RULE #1: People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs and replace any question that they dislike with a new question formulated by themselves.

RULE #2: Tag 6 people to do this quiz and they cannot refuse. These people must state who they were tagged by, cannot tag the person whom they were tagged by, and must continue this game by sending it to other people.

While we're still talking about love, here is a cutsie love song I adore from the I love Lucy show. It is picturized on Lucy and Ricky.

The Loveliest Night of the Year

when you are in love, it’s the loveliest night of the year,
stars twinkle above, and you almost can touch them from here.

words fall into rhyme, everytime you are holding me near.
when you are in love, it’s the loveliest night of the year.

waltzing along in the blue, like a breeze drifting over the sand,
thrilled by the wonder of you, and the wonderful touch of your hand and

my heart starts to beat, like a child when a birthday is near.
so kiss me, my sweet. it’s the loveliest night of the year.

(Lyrics by Mario Lanza)

"loveliest night of the year" starts at 2:40 mins.

Smiley Tag

Taking it up from Neha's blog:

Instructions: I tag my blog fellas to mention one item they did that bought a smile on their face.

Morning started as usual. I still had a few mins to do anything I wanted before leaving for work. I went out to the little backyard for some fresh air and saw a squirrel climb down from the roof to the tree branches to the rocks in yard where the bird food has been sitting outside. It was a fat brown one. I saw it for the first time. Before I had seen the black one only. So I went in and got some more bird food. I knew they loved those black sunflower seeds so I got more of those and then I went to put them out again but the brown one went away. I went back in for my breakfast and came back only to see the cute black one. I admit, I am partial towards the Indian-stripy-skinny-*tock*tock*-noise-making squirrels than the fat-American-non-vegetarian ones but still this one brought smile on my face. I had enough time to go inside again to grab my camera. At first I was little hesitant to open the door and go out near it as I thought the noise would probably scare her away but guess what! this one sort of just knew that I wasn't there to hurt or drive her away so she let me shoot her, gladly! :)

Then while driving, I saw a samTrans bus with a Hindi ad that said "ice coffee" or rather "आईस कॉफी". First Hindi ad I saw on a bus in the bay area! Now that brought a bigger smile. :D

So did you see anything that brought smile on your face today?

Just One Word? Or Many?

How about both? ;)

Ever since Bhavesh had re-tagged me to answer tag questions in just one line, I wanted to do this. So when I saw Neha had tagged me, I was like oh this is just perfect! I will answer in just one word, not even one line. ;) But then I couldn't help doing the other one as well. Here goes:

i am: crazy.
i think: nonstop.
i know: little.
i want: peace.
i have: patience.
i wish: good.
i hate: hypocrites.
i miss: school.
i fear: God.
i feel: blessed.
i hear: mostly.
i smell: roses.
i crave: attention.
i search: daily.
i wonder: often.
i regret: judging.
i love: nature.
i ache: thrillers.
i care: much.
i always: irritate.
i am not: mean.
i believe: confidently.
i dance: freely.
i sing: average.
i cry: sometimes.
i don't always: listen.
i fight: injustice.
i write: blogs.
i win: hearts.
i lose: temper.
i never: bark.
i confuse: myself.
i listen: carefully.
i can usually be found: talking.
i am scared: inside.
i need: vacation.
i am happy about: life.
i tag: nobody.

And now for the longer answers:

i am: a control freak, short-tempered, very patient at times, silly, outrageous, and a little crazy, yeah I know. ;)
i think: too much sometimes. More than what's needed.
i know: that I am truly blessed.
i want: more self control.
i have: a very unique family. Yup, I do.
i wish: for world peace. LOL! I sound like Ms. whatever *batting eyelids*. No but seriously, I wish I read more things than what I do now, specially books.
i hate: waking up early in the morning.
i miss: hanging out with friends like I did when I was a teenager.
i fear: drinking unclean water.
i feel: passionate about things I love to do.
i hear: selectively. Let me tell you, it helps. ;)
i smell: delicious sourdough bread right now. *yum*
i crave: for junk food every once in a while.
i search: mostly on google only, but in my room when I misplace my things.
i wonder: a lot... mostly about what people would be feeling or thinking.
i regret: hurting my loved ones at one point or the other.
i love: traveling to places and going for long drives.
i ache: for people who can't forgive and let go.
i care: to be indifferent than to hate.
i always: thought I was right. :(
i am not: a perfect human being.
i believe: that all the answers are inside of us.
i dance: once every week.
i sing: the beginner level Hindustani classical vocals.
i cry: just like everyone else does.
i don't always: speak the truth. *humming... jab meri chori pakdi jaati!* :P
i fight: the most with my sister. Sorry Neha, I'd to steal this answer. ;)
i write: letters in Gujarati really well, or so I am told. :)
i win: when I am able to control myself
i lose: temper more often than you'd think.
i never: have been able to get my head to touch my knees when I'm sitting with straight legs, parallel to the ground (without bending my knees).
i confuse: niceness of certain people for their kind-heartedness, which is often just selfishness.
i listen: to Hindi songs with a lot of enthusiasm.
i can usually be found: quite easily when playing hide & seek.
i am scared: of insects that venture near by bed at night when I'm asleep.
i need: to exercise more.
i am happy about: knowing a lot of things today than say 20 or 30 years later.
i tag: all of the readers whose first names end either in H or R.

*phew* I tell you, this one was the hardest to complete.

Bookmarked errrr Booktagged

We call it playing "pakaD daav" in Gujarati. That's what's been happening these days - the tagging game. I still have one more from Nova, but until then I decided to do this easier one by Stupidosaur.

How to play:

  1. Pick up the nearest book.
  2. Open to page 123.
  3. Find the fifth sentence.
  4. Post the next three sentences.
  5. Tag five people, and acknowledge the person who tagged you.

[picks up the nearest book] The book is maharshi vedvyaas praNit shrimad bhaagawat part I.

(Sorry for those who can't read Gujarati)

[opens to page 123]

[finds the fifth sentence]

[posts the next three sentences]

[tag five people, and acknowledge the person who tagged you]

Tagged: everyone who reads books, which I know is everyone who reads this blog. (I think that's definitely more than five people).
And of course, this taggie acknowledges the tagger.

So all those who read this blog please get to work. :D

A chilled Hershey sundae pie and a warm apple pie. *big grin*

  29. Favorite ice cream flavor?

Butter scotch - the kind they used to make like in the 80s and 90s, it's not the same any more these days. Tagged!

Chinmai had tagged me more than a month back, but since I was away I didn't get a chance to get to it until now... so here goes:

Instructions: Remove 1 question from below, and add in your personal question. Make it a total of 20 questions, and then tag 8 people in your list. List them out at the end of this post. Notify them in their chat box that he/she has been tagged.

(Btw, where in the world is that chat box? If you can find it, please let me know.)

1) Who are the most & most important persons you like to meet in your life?

I’d love to meet Lata Mangeshkar and Amitabh Bachchan. Politicians don't impress me much.

2) Name Three Most Valuable Assets?

As per this shloka I learned as a teenager, it would be the character, education, and our duties:
videsheshu dhanam vidya vyasaneshu dhanam matihi
parloke dhanam dharmana sheelam sarvatra vaidhanam

More on it here.

3) If you have the chance, what would you probably say to your beloved one?

I don't think it's worth waiting for anything or anyone to say something to the beloved ones, just do it now. :)

4) What has been the happiest moment?

There's been many of those.

5) Where is the place that you want to go the most?

Right now, Morro Bay in Central California.

6) If you can have 1 dream to come true, what would it be?

For all the people to be more forgiving and less egotist, including and starting with myself.

7) Till now, what is the moment that you regret the most?

Delaying that India trip by two weeks, but then again, all that happens happens for a reason, so it's all good.

8) Two things which you always wanted to learn but never did till date?

(I) American Sign Language (II) Roller-skating

9) What would you do if you found a briefcase full of money?

Turn it in at lost and found. (yeah rite! :P) I seriously would. ;) I prefer sona (sleeping peacefully) over the other sona (gold) any day.

10) If you meet someone that you love, would you confess to him/her?

Depends. ;)

11) List out 3 good points of the person who tagged you.

That's Chinmai - I haven't met her yet but would love to. :) I know that she's one level headed woman, a great photographer, and a fabulous writer.

12) What are the requirements that you wish from your other half?

Nothing more or less than what I am, a perfect imperfection. haha!

13) Which type of person do you like the most?

Can I rather answer the kind I don't like instead? I'll pass this one. :D

14) What is your ambition?

To make this life as a human being worthy of it. They say you don't get too many births as a human being.

15) What is the thing that will make you think someone is a bad person?

Those self-centered people who always believe in *take* and never *give*.

16) If you could do one thing different in life, what would it be?

Bhavesh is going to throw things at me for stealing his answer but I'd have to say the same - exercise/workout daily is what I'd like to do.

17) Something that made u laugh today?

This blog post and all of the comments underneath it. OMG! it is outrageous.. I have been laughing hysterically every time I visit that page.

18) How do you deal with a friend who has wronged you?

Bhavesh? I hope he isn't reading this. I'd go with Gandhigiri as well.

19) Name one favorite song of yours.

I too have a lot, like Chinmai does, but "aanewala pal jaanewala hai" still remains an all-time-favorite!

20) If you are about to lose all your memory and you have an option to remember just one person, who will it be? (OK that's the one I crossed out)
20) Imagine you could be in any profession you wish. What profession is that? (This must be a profession! Stay-at-home-dad or House-wife are not acceptable answers. :P)

For me, it would have to be a musician. LOL! hahahahaha!

Movie Quirks Meme

So there's this interesting chain of thoughts going around the block and I came across it at Nova's so said to myself, why not try it out? It sounds an awful lot of fun!!!

It's about movies, movies and more movies... here comes my extra-long version: (Jeez I can't believe I have 18 of them listed!! phew)

  • I love watching Hindi movies (specially the old ones and b&w) and most of the time I end up watching the movie over and over again on DVD once I know I like it a lot.

  • I love discussions about the movie while watching it, specially with someone who also loves to do the same. I'd pause the movie and discuss it for like 15-20 minutes about what we just saw or noticed. There are so many details we usually miss out on, it's mind-blowing when you realize and start paying attention to those little things. I truly enjoy doing that.

  • I love watching movies in theater as well but I would rather read a few reviews about it before I finally buy the tickets.

  • I have never walked out of a movie in my life, may be because I haven't really watched any extra lousy movie in a theater.

  • I, too, don't like having crying kids in a movie theater, but hey, those parents need a break too, right? :P

  • I have never been to a movie (in a theater) alone and I wouldn't want to.

  • I hate watching a movie sitting in the first few rows, so close to the screen. (I had to watch Mr. & Mrs. Smith from second row and absolutely hated the position.)

  • I have never watched same movie twice in a theater (may be because they don't do reruns of those golden oldies in theaters).

  • I watch the movie until the very end, even after the credits are displayed and all the audience has gone out. I love to find out about who worked on what and the locations and other movie making info.

  • I love comedy movies and laugh out loud while watching them, regardless of where I'm watching them - theater or DVD.

  • I am not a fan of too-much-rona-dhona kind of movies and don't like to watch movies that make adults cry. (I guess films like Taare Zameen Par, Veer Zaara would be exceptions)

  • I wish all of my favorite movies were made in IMAX! ;)

  • I am not a carbonated soda fan and don't like eating junk food while I watch a movie, but I have to admit once I pigged out on popcorn and jalapeño peppers with my cousins. Boy! do they taste out of this world or what! *drool*

  • I don't like it when those extra tall people sit up straight in front seats and block my view.

  • I can't fall asleep in the movie theater.

  • I don't like it when people litter in a movie theater or leave their mess behind.

  • I can't stand the close captioning in movies when in movie theater (they've been doing this in the US at least, not sure about India or other places). The non-Hindi speaking junta can rent a DVD at home.

  • I have requested a theater to have one additional show of a movie because I was too late in finding out how fantastic that movie was! It's too bad they didn't run one extra show for me since the movie was out on DVD already.

And if you're reading this, you're tagged!!! so get those thinking caps on and do share your likes & dislikes about watching movies. Let the fun begin...

    Tagged!!

This is my first one! Ami has tagged me. Not sure whether my interpretation is right but I think she wants me to answer these questions best to my knowledge. ;)

Nineteen questions!! Oh boy! even my board exams were simpler.. just kidding! :D

  • Pick out a scar you have, and explain how you got it.

Too many to pick from but this one is the most recent one so here goes. It's on my right knee. Sunday, August 19, 2007. In the evening I went to the beach with my sister to watch the sunset. While climbing down to the sandy area from a steep rock, I put my foot on this man-made step on the rock and before I realize that it's too small for my 11-inch foot, I was in this extra-large puddle of seawater with my entire left side of body under water. I realized after a moment which was actually quite long because everyone who saw me fall had stepped in the water by then to pick me up. I realized that parts of my body had hit a huge log in the water that people had put there to avoid stepping in the water. Both of my knees, other parts of legs, my left arm and my camera got hurt. My knees got the most cuts/bruises with right one being the worst. The purple, green, magenta colored bruises took about 3 weeks to heal and the cuts left a scar behind.

  • What does your phone look like? List your reasons to buy it?

It's a Motorola V400. Bought it because it had the GSM technology and camera and looks like this:

  • What is on the walls of your bedroom?

A whole bunch of family members' photos, some photos with friends, art posters by sis, a noisy clock, a hand-made poster with 12 pages of an old calendar with cute friendship quotes, another hand-made poster of four photos of national parks, a whole bunch of cuttings from another old baby-animals calendar and large pictures of baal Krishna and Lord Shiva. There are also more than three dozens glow-in-the-dark stars stuck all over the place including on the ceiling. Wow I'm surprised I still have space left on the walls!

  • What is your current desktop picture?

A photo of Asrani when he was young! lol no just kidding. It's Shahid Kapoor's poster! ;)

  • Do you believe in gay marriage?

    Sure, why not. Whatever works.

  • What do you want more than anything right now?

Another weekend, or anything but Monday. :P

  • What time were you born?

A time long long ago... :|

  • Are your parents still together?

(goes to double check, and back) They said yes. :D

  • Last person who made you cry?

The lady who was cutting too many onions while preparing for the meal at the function. :P No, I think it was my sis and no she wasn't cutting any onions.

  • What is your favorite perfume / cologne?

Too suffocating for me, but if I had to pick one I'd pick Longing. Inner Realm is also nice.

  • What kind of hair/eye color do you like in the opposite sex?

    How about fluorescent pink! ;)
Nooo, on the other hand, black/dark brown would be just fine. Thank you.

  • What are you listening to? Why?

    Mohd. Rafi's taareef karofy songs
    - ehsaan tera hoga mujhpar
    - taareef karoon kya uss ki
    - bahot shukriya badi meherbaani
    - yoon to humne laakh haseen dekhe hai
    - chaudhvin ka chaand ho
    - aye gulbadan phoolon ki mahek
    - yeh reshmi zulfen
    - teri bindiya re
and then some Gujarati songs like
    - jeevan anjali thaajo
    - jeevan panth ujaaL
    - ho raaj mane laagyo
    - hu ne chandu
    - naiyaa jhukaavi me to
    - janani ni jod sakhi
These are looping on the winamp right now.
Mohd Rafi because I adore his voice and Gujarati because of this new blog.

Yes, now. Used to be otherwise before.

The next people to be tagged are RJ, Bhavesh, Jigar and JD.
